Burnley Bank nominated Dave for a Hollywood Award

Bank of Dave, released on streaming site Netflix in 2023, was filmed in Burnley and other parts of east Lancashire, and is inspired by the life of businessman Dave Fishwick, who began his career selling minibuses in his hometown.

Following its global success and confirmation that Bank of Dave 2 is set to begin filming in East Lancashire very soon, the first film has been nominated for a Hollywood Award.

Last month, Movieguide, an American film website, announced nominations for the 31st Annual Movieguide Faith and Values Gala, an event that celebrates great and positive Hollywood films.

Bank of Dave was nominated in the Faith and Freedom Film Award category.

Dave said on X (formerly Twitter): “Very exciting news!! We are up for the highest award in Hollywood!”

“Bank of Dave The Movie is nominated alongside some huge blockbusters, like Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant, and they’re reporting on it all in LA’s top stories.

“Burnley has been invited to the Hollywood red carpet!!”

Bank of Dave stars Joel Fry, Phoebe Dynevor, Rory Kinnear (as Dave), Hugh Bonneville, Paul Kaye, and Joe Hartley, and tells the (almost true) story of how the Burnley native took on the big banks and won.

Written by Bank of Dave writer Piers Ashworth, the sequel is set to be produced by Tempo Productions and Future Artists and will see the return of director Chris Foggin.

Dave said the Bank of Dave sequel will focus on his work with payday loan companies and will closely follow the work he did on the Channel 4 series, Dave: Loan Ranger.

Netflix UK is also currently showing the original documentary series about Dave Fishwick, which aired in 2012. All three episodes were added to Netflix on March 24.

The 31st Annual Movieguide Faith and Values Awards will be held on February 9 at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood.

Filming on Bank of Dave 2 is set to begin in the coming weeks.
