Alberta is promoting the film industry as the minister meets with Hollywood executives in Los Angeles

Alberta’s Minister of Arts, Culture and the Status of Women is heading to Los Angeles to try to promote Alberta’s film industry.

The province made the announcement on Tuesday, saying the minister would travel to the Golden State on Wednesday, before returning to Alberta on Friday.

While Minister Tanya Fair is in Los Angeles, she will meet with executives from HBO and other organizations to highlight what Alberta has to offer.

Part of the meetings will also include a meeting with producers to showcase the work done in support of recent critically acclaimed shows filmed in the county.

Investment in the film and television industry is at an all-time high according to the province. Recently, major productions such as the first season of “Last of Us” and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” have brought new jobs to the county, helping the county’s economy.

“The Alberta government is proud of our talented and growing film and television industry, and we want to maintain this momentum for years to come. We want producers around the world to know about our competitive financial advantages, our amazing locations, our world-class studios, and our exceptional crews and talent,” said Fair.

The province added that a full list of expenses will be posted on the travel and expense disclosure page after the trip.
