The film, produced by Akhtar Farooqi and Jagjit Khurana, was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 100 crore, but did not perform well at the box office. He gave super hit songs like Om Shanti Om composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and his Dard-E-Dil. The duo won the Filmfare Award for Best Musical Director. He made his Bollywood debut with this film along with Urmila Matondkar, Shweta Kumar, Danny Denzongpa and Gulshan Grover. Himesh Reshammiya also composed the music for the film.
