Sheila Ramani made her acting debut in 1954 with her film Taxi Driver. The film was directed by Chetan Anand and starred Dev Anand in the lead role. The film also featured Kalpana Kartik and Johnny Walker in important roles.

After this film, Sheela Ramani became a big star in Bollywood. She started receiving movie offers one after another. Her stardom was such that so many fans gathered outside her home that it was difficult to even walk down the street. Big stars like Sunil Dutt and Kishore Kumar also wanted to work with her.

Sheela Ramani also became the first actress of her generation to appear in Pakistani films. The name of the movie was ‘Anokhi’ and it was released in 1959. Sheila Ramani suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and tragically passed away. It is reported that she was also in a coma and she sadly passed away in 2015.
