The film has been rife with speculation for months, but Shah Rukh seemingly confirmed his next project as King after a fan spotted the script lying next to the superstar on his desk. The film sees Shah Rukh play a gangster while Suhana plays his protégé.
In a new video, Shah Rukh praises acclaimed cinematographer Santosh Sivan, who was awarded the prestigious Pierre Angénieux Award for Excellent Lens Cinematography at the 77th Cannes Film Festival last week. Santosh Sivan directed Shah Rukh in the 2001 historical drama “Ashoka”.
While the video saw Shah Rukh talking about the famed cinematographer, the star’s fans had their eyes elsewhere – on King’s script, which was visible in the frame.

Shah Rukh was earlier rumoured to be playing a cameo role with King, with Suhana in the lead role, but the script has now been adjusted to feature Shah Rukh in the lead role, marking his next full-fledged film after the massive success of films like Pattern, Jawan and Dhunki, which have collectively grossed over Rs 2500 crore worldwide.
King is directed by Sujoy Ghosh, known for thriller films like Kahaani, Badla and the Netflix hit starring Vidya Balan. Kareena Kapoor, TadahThe action sequences will be handled by Siddharth Anand, who worked on Shah Rukh Khan’s Pattern, and he has been tasked with assembling and supervising a top-notch international team to execute the action scenes.
The film’s music will be composed by Anirudh, who previously worked on the hit film Jawan. King is currently in pre-production and is scheduled to begin shooting in August for a 2025 release.
