Bollywood star hero Hrithik Roshan has come up with India’s first aerial action thriller ‘Fighter’. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand of War and Pattern fame and stars Deepika Padukone as the female lead. As per Pathan’s sentiments, the film arrived on her January 25th. Let’s see how the movie goes.

Story:

Sensing a possible enemy attack on the Srinagar base camp, a special team of top Indian Air Force aviators is formed. Shamsher Pathania aka Pati (Hrithik Roshan), Minni Rathore aka Mini (Deepika Padukone), Sartaj Gill (Karan Singh Grover) and a few others are part of this team. Rakesh Jai Singh aka Rocky (Anil Kapoor) is their commander. One day, the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed attacks CRPF soldiers. This leads to a series of battles between India and terrorists. Who won in the end is the theme of this movie.

Plus points:

Like Siddharth Anand’s earlier films, there’s nothing special about the plot of The Fighter, but once again the director has come up with a great story that captivates us. His first 40 minutes or so are used to introduce the character, and then the point of conflict is introduced. This is followed by a block of solid aerial action.

Kudos to the fighter team for pulling off all the aerial combat sequences. These war scenes provide an immersive experience that contributes to storytelling. The team explained the aerial scenes in detail so that we could understand and understand them better. Another good thing about The Fighter is its emotional moments, especially in the second half. Action movies generally don’t have enough emotional depth, but The Fighter gets it right in this regard. Ashutosh Rana’s cameo appearance makes a big impact.

Hrithik Roshan is adorable in this stylish action movie. Hrithik’s towering screen presence is always a joy to watch. His witty dialogue, sensitive acting, and charm contribute greatly to the film. He also has good chemistry with Deepika Padukone. The actress plays her role well. The love track doesn’t affect the flow of the movie. Anil Kapoor, Akshay Oberoi and Karan Singh Grover do a great job in their roles.

Minus points:

The songs and background score of “Fighter” are disappointing. The background score is not that good, except for the Vandemataram track. If this point had been improved, the impact might have been a little higher. Some of the dialogue reminds me of Uri. The film has a template-based story, so comparisons with other patriotic films are inevitable.

The film may appeal more to urban audiences than rural audiences given its genre. This may hamper its box office prospects to some extent. The aerial action before the interval is very good, but the interval comes suddenly.

Technical aspects:

As mentioned above, the music and score are less than satisfying. The fighter also received perfect scores in other technical aspects. Thatchis Paulose’s camera work is amazing. The camera movement during jet battles is refreshing. The VFX work is well done and forms his biggest USP of the film. You’re very good at editing.

Siddharth Anand has always been his style of filmmaking, taking familiar stories and delivering some pretty gripping films. Siddharth’s concept of the aerial battle scene is brilliant. Action choreographers deserve special applause. The dogfights between airmen and the conversations with the enemy are especially fascinating.

verdict:

Overall, The Fighter is a satisfying aviation action movie that is neatly packed with great action blocks and a solid performance from Hrithik Roshan. Although there is nothing new in the story, Siddharth Anand fills the film with fascinating scenes and makes sure that there is no dull moment. Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor and Karan Singh Grover play their roles beautifully. Emotions also come into play in the second half. However, if you’re expecting a solid story, you might be a little disappointed. If you’re okay with this, check out the technical brilliance of Fighter.
