Divya Dutta recently spoke about the challenges faced by outsiders in the Indian film industry and revealed that casting directors and filmmakers give preference to insiders over outsiders and newbies.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Divya shared her views on the struggles of actors who do not belong to a film family and said they often miss out on roles because filmmakers opt for industry insiders. She acknowledged the benefits of industry insiders, citing their familiarity with the industry workings and connections.

Divya, however, stressed that in Bollywood, talent ultimately prevails, regardless of background. She maintained that audiences appreciate good acting, regardless of whether an actor is an insider or an outsider. Admitting that she has missed out on roles many times because she did not have a “godfather” in the industry, Divya said it is a common occurrence in the competitive world of showbiz. She highlighted the disparity between the entertainment industry and other fields, noting that the disparity is often overlooked in areas such as college admissions.

Divya highlighted the challenges faced by those inside and outside of Bollywood, highlighting the learning curve for those who were not born and raised in the industry. She also spoke about working alongside Sunny Leone in Ragini MMS 2 and how Leone made the transition from the adult film industry to Bollywood. Divya praised Leone’s professionalism and talent and stressed the importance of judging individuals on their skills and not their past.
