This year has been a great year for Shah Rukh Khan. He scripted his dream comeuppance with Pasaan, forged his golden years with Jawaan and is in the midst of box office success with Dhanki, his third film this year. The Rajkumar Hirani drama has failed to match the heights achieved by the previous two films starring SRK, which grossed Rs 1000 crore each at the global box office, but it is plodding along where they sprinted.

On Saturday, the film registered a 30 per cent growth and earned Rs 260 crore, according to industry tracker Saknilk. Sunday’s collection is likely to be below Rs 3,000 crore as the morning show had an occupancy of 27.01%, which increased to 52.63% in the afternoon show and 66.06% in the evening show.
However, the film is unlikely to achieve the box office success expected from Shah Rukh Khan’s films. Also, it will not be able to match Salar, starring Prabhas and directed by Prashant Neel, in terms of box office collection.
But the movie is likely to get even more exciting with the Christmas break on Monday. This movie will take a long time to collect at the box office as there are no big movies scheduled for next week as well. Reportedly made on a budget of Rs 850 million, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer has established itself in terms of revenue.
Dhanki also features special appearances by Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani and Vicky Kaushal.
