‘Bollywood Spotlight Series’ returns to Ratis Theater | Entertainment

BRATTLEBORO — Starting Sunday, Latisse Theater will collaborate with Vidhi Sara of Vidhi’s Bollywood Jukebox to present a month-long series of Bollywood films.

Brattleboro’s historic local theater will once again show four different Indian films twice each week, on Sundays at 4pm and Wednesdays at 7pm. As with all film events, Sara will present a cultural introduction and pop exhibit before each screening. There is also a bazaar of Indian handicrafts inside the venue.

This year, in addition to attending screenings, audiences will also be able to participate in online discussions and Q&As about the films hosted by Sarah after the series concludes.

The exact date of the discussion will be announced during the series. A $10 donation is recommended for admission to the screening and will not be turned away. All movies will be shown with English subtitles.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, and advance reservations are not required. In keeping with the tradition of last year’s Bollywood Her Spotlight series, Sara is inviting audiences to dress up in Indian luxury for her Oct. 15 opening of her showcase.

The films, in order, are ‘Bajirao Mastani’ (2015), ‘Shorai’ (1975), ‘Monsoon Wedding’ (2001) and ‘3 Idiots’ (2009).
