69 series and movies announced
Amazon Prime Video has made its long-awaited debut for Indian audiences in 2024 with an impressive slate of 69 new and returning series, original and licensed films. The announcement was made at a star-studded event in Mumbai, attended by some of the biggest names in the Indian entertainment industry, along with Amazon executives.
Mike Hopkins, Head of Amazon Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, highlighted the platform’s commitment to the Indian market, recognizing India as a key geographic region for growth. “Last year, India had a higher percentage of Prime members streaming Prime Video than any other country in the world,” he said, underscoring the platform’s widespread popularity and influence.

Amazon Prime Video Original Series:
Among the standouts is Citadel: Honey Bunny, the Indian addition to the Russo brothers’ Citadel universe, with stars Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Also in the mix is Gulkanda His Tales, a satirical comedy-drama by hit-making duo Rajini Dimol and Krishna DK. Ananya Panday will also make her OTT girlfriend debut with ‘Call Me Bae’. The series follows the journey of a former heiress who finds herself demoted to a hustler.

Additionally, five series are scheduled to return with sequels. Series like Panchayat 3, Mirzapur 3, Bandish Bandits 2, Paatal Lok 2, Suzhal – The Vortex 2 in Tamil promise to keep the viewers glued to the screen.
Licensed movies:
Amazon Prime Video also surprised audiences by announcing movies that will return to the OTT platform after their theatrical release. Viewers can look forward to an impressive line-up of licensed films, including co-productions with Dharma Productions such as ‘Yodha’ and ‘Bad Newz’, as well as highly anticipated releases such as ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Stree 2’.
