Raksha

Many of Ranveer Singh’s films shelved

His latest project to be shelved is Hanuman director Prashanth Varma’s Rakshas. In a statement released on Thursday, the duo announced that the film will not be made. Ranveer said, “Prashant is a very special talent. We met and explored a film idea together. Hopefully, we will collaborate on something exciting in the future.” Like Ranveer, Prashanth also promised his fans that he looks forward to an exciting collaboration in the future. “Ranveer’s energy and talent is rare to find. We will join forces and thrive in the near future,” Prashanth said. Ranveer’s exit was reportedly due to creative differences with Prashanth.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali was all set to reteam with actor Ranveer Singh after Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat for a new historical film on the life of legendary medieval Indian musician Baiju Bawla. However, reports have said that Bhansali has decided to put Baiju Bawla on the back burner to focus on Love and War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.

S Shankar and Ranveer Singh were set to work together in the remake of Anniyaan.

Aniyan remake

S. Shankar was considering adapting the 2005 hit psychological action thriller Anniyan starring Vikram into Hindi with Ranveer in the lead role, but after initial discussions the project stalled when Shankar became busy juggling two Tamil films, Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan and Game Changer starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani.

Shaktimaan

According to reports, Ranveer will play Shaktimaan, the iconic Indian superhero character made popular by Mukesh Khanna in a TV series in the 1990s and 2000s. The film adaptation was to be directed by Malayalam filmmaker Basil Joseph, known for the 2021 superhero film Minnal Murali. However, Mukesh Khanna recently claimed that Ranveer will no longer be playing Shaktimaan in the film adaptation.

Tact

The first of these projects to be shelved was Karan Johar’s historical film “Takht,” in which Ranveer was cast as Dara Shikoh, the eldest son and successor to Mughal ruler Shah Jahan. The film also starred Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor, but was shelved after it became difficult to make such a big project after the pandemic. Karan then went on to make “Rocky,” starring Ranveer and Alia.

Ranveer will next be seen in ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Don 3’.
