In honor of the late actor Irrfan Khan, G5A, a Mahalakshmi-based performance space for experimental and independent arts, presents ‘Irrfan (1967 – 2020): A Retrospective Exhibition’. Khan remains immortalized on celluloid through iconic characters like Maqbool, Yogi, Rana, Ashok and Saajan.

As part of the retrospective, the next three days (January 26-28) will feature classics and audience favorites such as ‘The Lunchbox’, ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ and director Meera Nair’s ‘Same Name’. Screening Irrfan’s most memorable films including; “Piku”, “Karibu-Karibu Single”, “Talvar”, etc.

“I remember when he left us, my only wish was to celebrate him every day in every way,” said Sutapa, author, actress and Irrfan’s wife. “What better way to remember him than by celebrating his accomplishments,” Sikdar said.

The retrospective was put together by G5A Cinema House and filmmaker and G5A Advisory Board member Nikkhil Advani.

Acknowledging that Irrfan changed his approach as a director, he said, “If I consider my film D-Day (2013) to be a milestone in my career, a big part of that was due to collaboration with him. It must be something.” He makes all his performances very lyrical and effortless. I’m thrilled to have been able to handpick some of his most special films for the retrospective, and all the actors, directors, producers, screenwriters, and co-creators I’ve called have given me such a perfect selection of films. I am so grateful that he said he was honored to pay tribute to the artist. ”
