‘Scotland’ in the running for Oscars 2020
Filmmaker Manish Vatssalya’s award-winning Indo-UK film, ‘Scotland’, has found a place among the Oscar contenders of 2020 in the Best Feature Film category. The film is about a father becoming a brutal life snatcher to give justice to his daughter, a rape victim, after the law and order failed to do so. The film stars Adam Saini, Khushboo Purohit, Chetan Pandit, Daya Shankar Pandey, Aakash Dagar, Sanjeev Jha and Manish Vatssalya.
Debutant Adam Saini, who has served with the Scottish police force, plays the protagonist and has won seven international awards for this film. The movie, written by Piyush Priyank and edited by Mansoor Azmi, is produced by Zaina Ibourek and Manish Vatssalya under the banner of Mars UK films Ltd and Vatssalya films.
Producer Zaina Ibourek says, “As a director, Manish Vatssalya has done a commendable job.” Manish adds, “I am thrilled that Scotland has been noticed globally.

A total of 344 films are eligible to contend for the ‘Best Feature Film’ title. The nominees will be announced Jan. 13. The 92nd annual Academy Awards ceremony will air live on ABC Feb. 9.
